3 triller trailers analysis

Inception

How it targets the audience.
The target audience for this movie is teenagers/young adults, it targets the audience by using Leonardo dicaprio who is an extremely well known respected actor and many other familiar faces and also uses futuristic elements to appeal to a younger audience.

How it effectively advertises the film.
The film is advertised as having an extremely intense, complex plot. And involves many features and actors that will appeal to the audience. The trailer doesn't give too many answers and leaves suspense making the audience want to watch it to understand the story line and become engulfed in it.

How it advertises the triller genre.
This trailer effectively shows many twists and mind games which are main features in triller movies. Also seems to feature crime and paranoia as well as the classic protagonist vs antagonist plot.

Men and Women Advertisements

Advertisment for Women: Gucci Première
During this advert it features a sophisticated wealthy looking woman (Blake Lively) overlooking a lit up city. The persona in the advert is wearing a gold dress which could symbolise wealth. The camera angles are face on and there is movement from showing the back of the women looking out the window to the front to show her face as she is a recognisable figure. The cuts are from her walking to her using the perfume which is what is being advertised. The lighting is bright and the overall colour is gold, there is also a shot of the persona wearing a black dress which could symbolise mystery to the audience. The only prop is the perfume as that is the sole purpose of the advertisement. The only time there is speech is at the end when the persona says the name of the perfume and there is music throughout.

Advertisement for Men: Lamborghini Huracán
This advert starts off with a man looking out a window overlooking a city, the weather is the main feature throughout the advert and starts off stormy and dark, this could symbolise mystery or fear.
The male persona is wearing a suit which could indicate sophistication and class.
The car is then introduced and is blue, it is also the only thing of colour throughout the advertisement this could imply that that car is the main feature and should be looked at. There are short cuts throughout, from the man in the apartment to him outside then inside the car pressing the start button, then it sharply cuts to the car. Majority of the camera angles are high up to show the entire car whilst moving. The lighting is extremely dark but as the car moves the storm above separates and wherever the car goes the sky splits creating a sunny sky instead of stormy. There is a small amount of dramatic music whilst the car is moving to build up suspense and all you can hear is the sound of the car. At the end of the advertisement there is a shot of the car at the top of a mountain overlooking clouds with the quote 'own the sky.'

'Who? Why? What?' Evaluation

I think my final video came out quite well, I decided to write information about myself on paper instead of actually saying it so that people could understand me a bit better.
The things that went well in the video were:
• The background music. As we couldn't edit the video I improvised and played music off someone's phone in the background so that the video wasn't completely silent.
• The flow of the video is quite good as I thought that moving the papers in one take would be quite difficult but it turned out completely fine.

The things that didn't go well in the video were:
•The quality of the video was quite bad as I filmed it on my phone.
•The video was quite short.

Overall I think my video went quite well and better than I expected but in order to make it better I could have made it slightly longer and filmed on a camera to make the quality better.

Positive and negative representation of women in the media

A positive representation of women in the media would be that FIFA introduced women into the game, showing that women's sport are increasingly growing in popularity. As well as video games showing a good side to women, many can be negative too. Female characters such as Lara Croft are seen as strong and capable but are also over sexualised in the game as they wear tight revealing outfits and have an idealised body.
